What I Specialize in
Eating disorders and body image :
I have years of experience and dedication working in eating disorders in all levels of care. I help individuals process their relationships with body image and food in order to gain a better understanding of their struggles, behaviors and distress. Struggling with an eating disorder can be very isolating. You may be finding yourself avoiding places where food might be present or avoiding seeing people so you can stay where you are in control of the exposure to food. Eating disorders can cause a lower sense of self causing an individual to lose their 'soul' self while making them feel worthless. You do not have to go through this alone!
Eating disorder work can be uncomfortable and scary to start but I want you to know, that you've come to the right place to embark on a courageous journey. Let's take back your life together! I believe that change, healing and recovery is possible. I hold on to the belief that each and every individual who comes to me can repair their relationship with food and body image.
Healing your relationship with food and making peace with your body is possible. Imagine up each day with freedom from thoughts of food and negative body image. Picture a life where these worries no longer take up space, allowing you to embrace a beautiful, soulful existence. Let's explore together the root cause of your eating disorder while reclaiming your soul self.
Anxiety:
Are you overwhelmed with feelings of fear, worries and panic? Are you searching for a safe space to process unpleasant inner turmoil and dread? If so, I am here to help! Anxiety can be debilitating, making an individual feel stuck and frozen in time. If you need a safe space to manage and gain tangible skills to move through your anxiety and become unstuck, I can help. Together we will work on skills to help you gain the confidence you need to prevent, stop, and challenge anxious thoughts. I will use treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
While using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy we will identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can help you manage the difficult emotions that arise when anxious. DBT can help you improve your ability to tolerate stress, regulate emotions and respond to negative situations with less panic.
Imagine what life would look like if you were no longer overwhelmed with feelings of fear, worries and panic and were no longer stuck inside. Imagine all the possibilities and what you could achieve if anxiety no longer was holding you back. It's never to late to start, I am here to help.
Depression:
Have you lost interest in activities you once enjoyed? Are you struggling with isolation and connecting with those you once surrounded yourself with? Are you struggling with your purpose in life, feeling unhappy, and have little to no hope. If so, I want you to know that you do not have to struggle and walk through this alone. Depression can feel heavy and all-consuming. It can drain one's energy and it can be difficult to do everyday tasks.
Together we can explore your depression, identify what the depression voice is suggesting and set attainable and manageable goals. I will use treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help you challenge your depression voice and regulate your emotions. DBT can help you identify your values and priorities so that you can purposefully pursue them and ultimately achieve the life you want. CBT can help you change your negative thought patterns, so you have the opportunity to challenge and change the depression voice.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Trauma :
Do you struggle with flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety and/or dissociations? Do you have difficulty with uncontrollable thoughts about a traumatic event? Do you feel stuck, unsafe and no longer trust those and the world around you? Those who struggle with PTSD have difficulty adjusting, coping with their emotions, and taking care of themselves. If you relate to these experiences, getting treatment for PTSD can help reduce PTSD symptoms and improve functions.
I use treatment approaches such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help my clients challenge their stuck points, core beliefs, and improve their relationships with themselves and the way they see the world. Whether we chose to do general talk therapy to work through trauma work or a more formal CPT approach, I am here to help my clients navigate this difficult time.
